Welcome to Buttermilk Lane where you will
find a totally unique line of artisan created, one-of-a-kind,
jewelry!!
Buttermilk Lane's jewelry is artfully created by Maine artisan,
Ruth Wales, using REAL FLOWERS, such as Forget-Me-Nots, Sweet
Alyssum, Bridal Veil Spiraea, and other tiny flowers.
Much of the jewelry is created from non-endangered wildflowers
gathered along the roadsides, woods, and fields in western Maine.
All pins are one-of-a-kind and
personally signed. Each piece of jewelry is a true work of
miniature art.
This is the perfect place to shop for unique one-of-a-kind
handcrafted jewelry for your gardener friends, or for anyone who
loves flowers!
Some of our earrings and necklaces are very small and
delicate, making ideal jewelry for little girls!
For the happy times, we offer
bridal party jewelry. I will work with you to create custom piece
to match your gowns.
If your wedding is past and you have air dried your flowers, I can
make "confetti" jewelry from your bridal bouquet.
And for the sad times, we offer memorial jewelry.
We have tiny Forget-me-Not pendants to help comfort a mother who
has lost her baby to a miscarriage. We have special pink necklaces
to honor those lost to breast cancer.

Dear Ruth:
Greetings from the upper peninsula of Michigan. I have been the proud
owner of several pieces of your exquisite jewelry for several years. My
husband was born in Bucksport, grew up in New York and we have been
living in Northern Michigan for 15 years. Our goal for retirement is to
return to Maine. Several times in our 291/2 years of marriage we have
returned to our beloved Maine and during these visits my husband always
surprised me with a piece of your beautiful jewelry. I have many pieces
of jewelry that are rubies, diamonds, opals, etc., but my very favorite
remains the pieces that you have created. They are also the most
complimented. Today as I walked in the woods behind our home, though,
one of the inserts in one of the earrings must have come loose and was
lost and so I am ordering a replacement pair. During our most recent
trip to Maine - June, 2004 when my husband gave me the earrings, I
retained the card that was in the box and have carried it with me in my
wallet. Whenever I am complimented on the pieces, I then have
information in which to give people should they wish to look into
acquiring a piece for themselves. I most especially wanted to just say
thank you for your lovely work. For me it is much more then just a piece
of jewelry. It represents a piece of my husbands past - as well as the
plans that we have had for so many years when we can one day retire and
return "home" to Maine. It is truly ironic that earlier today my
physician told me to discontinue walking in the woods as it is
contributing to pain due to degenerative arthritis. I took one more
walk today to "say goodbye" to the beautiful woods and left a piece of
